Powderham Castle, near Exeter, home of THF Patron Lady Devon, was the glamorous venue for an outstanding evening of entertainment to benefit The Helen Foundation. Words for Voices is an original and highly professional group that present a mixture of seasonal poetry, dramatic readings and music in venues across south Devon to benefit a wide range of charities.
In the iconic setting of the James Wyatt music room, the sell-out audience were royally entertained to a feast of seasonal readings and music, from medieval carols to Carol Anne Duffy’s intensely moving poem about the 1914 Christmas truce. With mulled wine and mince pies to greet everyone at the beginning in the Great Hall, with its beautiful Christmas tree and roaring log fire, to the final curtain call, the whole evening was full of delight.
The Helen Foundation wishes to thank very warmly everyone involved in making such a successful event, from the generous local businesses who provided superb raffle prizes and refreshments, to the many volunteer helpers without whom such events are impossible to mount.
And finally a huge thank you goes to Words for Voices who helped the charity raise over £900 to further its work of supporting the aspirations of young people in the arts in Teignbridge.
