THF Bursary: Where are they now? – Ellie Finnerty

January 15, 2018

ellie1We catch up with former THF Bursary Holder – Ellie Finnerty(Ellie is pictured above starring in Our House and at Powderham Live!)
“The bursary I received from THF in 2014 enabled me to achieve my Grade 4 Award in singing, and since then I have continued to perform as often as I can.

Over the next year, whilst studying for my GCSEs, I continued to perform in school, signing at Prize Evenings, acting in school productions and in Summer 2016, I achieved A*s in both my music and drama GCSEs.

When I began the Sixth Form in September 2016, I was accepted into the school’s audition-only chamber choir where I now continue my love of singing on a weekly basis. I also performed in a short comedy called “The Government Inspector” at Exeter Northcott in February 2017.

However, the most exciting thing that has happened in the last year was that I landed the lead role of Sarah in the musical ‘Our House’ at the Princess Theatre, Torquay, with the award-winning local company TOADS. I was one of the youngest and newest members of the company and rehearsals were a huge commitment on top of school work, part-time job, learning to drive etc, but I had such a fantastic time with the company, and when we performed the show in June 2017, it received excellent reviews. It was this experience which made up my mind that I’m determined to make performing a career

ellie2As for now, I’m currently in rehearsals to play the Witch in ‘Into The Woods’ next February in Torquay. I’m also in the process of applying to several drama schools for Musical Theatre courses and I’m still playing the guitar and writing songs in my free time, and grabbing at opportunities to perform when they arise, such as Teignmouth’s Got Talent in the summer and Powderham Live!

Once again, thank you so much for your help all those years ago.”

We wish you continuing success in future, Ellie!
