Aaron’s Collatus Sculpture

July 21, 2013

Aaron Cumbers sculptureAaron Cumbers is a remarkable young artist. He has just completed his Foundation Art course  at King Edward VI College, Totnes, one of the most prestigious courses of its type in the South West.

For his final exhibition, after learning all the skills himself of cutting, rolling and welding steel, he created a metre high steel sculpture of exceptional quality that drew the strongest of praise from teachers and visitors alike. The sculpture is called Collatus, meaning brought together.

Aaron applied for a THF bursary to help pay for the materials he needed and following his success on the course, he is heading for Birmingham College of Art for jewellery-making, another of his exceptional skills.  We look forward to following Aaron’s career with real interest.

Just don’t make the earrings as large as the sculpture, Aaron…
