All Saints Marsh Presentation

February 23, 2014

allsaints_2THF Trustees had a truly memorable afternoon recently. Annie and Roger Kirk were invited to a special praise assembly at All Saints (Marsh) School, a small primary school in the heart of Newton Abbot. It was a formal and very well run occasion, where about 20 young people received special commendations for achievements during the week.

Following the citation for their successes, the pupils walked up singly to the raised dais at the front of the hall.  The holder of the previous week’s award shook their hand and handed over the trophy as they received a warm round of applause from all the children. At the end of this event, Annie and Roger were introduced and two children presented a cheque for £1000 to the Foundation. They were completely amazed and very moved.

This huge sum of money had been raised by parents and friends of all the pupuls who took part in the remarkable mini-marathon last summer recounted here in July 2013.  Assisted by the Rotary Club of Dartmoor Vale, pupils organised and ran the whole event as a special enterprise and the result was quite outstanding.
