Anthony Gormley inspires Doddi

October 17, 2013

Anthony Gormley, one of Britain’s best-known sculptors – think Angel of the North – has been the inspiration behind a brilliant project at Doddiscombsleigh School.

Another of Gormely’s well-known pieces are the strangely moving massed miniature clay figures in his piece called Field. Using this installation as the inspiration, every child at “Doddi” worked with artist Lucy Rockliffe using clay to make two figures each and the results were an inspiration.

Children rarely get to handle clay under such skilled direction and just loved the project. The pieces will form part of the remarkable Doddiscombsleigh Art Show to be mounted in Doddi over half-term. We enjoyed visiting this project so much!
