Our Lady and St Patrick Catholic Primary School always make sure they fully use their THF offer of two arts-based workshops every year.
Last month, they incorporated the THF-sponsored arts workshops into a very ambitious Arts Week where the children explored aspects of Hinduism through the arts – story-telling, dance, music and performance. John Roberts, Puppeteer and dancer Anna Leatherdale were part of the THF artist team that joined other artists in what turned into an exceptional week. “I had a wonderful time at Our Lady and St Patrick”, said Anna.
Artist Michelle Greenwood-Brown will be following up the week by running a THF-sponsored workshop guiding the children to create a mosaic that will be a permanent record of the school’s 2013 Arts Week.
Carol Webster very kindly visited the project along with Eileen Pope on behalf of the charity and Carol wrote to say: “I have been asked to pass on grateful thanks to you on behalf of the school. They said it had been one of the best so far, as Art Week and the focus on Hinduism had fallen at the same time, and it had produced a very exciting week.”
Dancer Anna Leatherdale wrote: “Many of the teachers but particularly the Foundation Stage teachers commented on how much they enjoyed the session. They particularly liked the scarves and costumes and said that they gave the sessions an added dimension that was particularly helpful when working with younger children.”
Puppeteer John Roberts said,”Great response to both the making and performing elements of my workshops, with excellent outcomes from both classes that did the making. The younger classes that came for a short storytelling just laughed and laughed!”
Well done all the children and teachers who worked so hard and so successfully all week.
