Drum Crazy at Broadhempston

July 5, 2014

thf_drum2The whole school – all 65 children – took part in a very lively drumming workshop and final performance, led by BigBeat outside in bright sunshine on a beautiful June day.

Roger Clarke, Head teacher at the school, comments:

“The junk band drumming project has been a unique opportunity for children between the ages of 4 and 11 to come together, learn new skills and then give a performance. I know that the children have loved the experience of drumming and hopefully some of them will have been inspired to take up the drums as a musical instrument in the future.

We are grateful to The Helen Foundation for their support in facilitating the junk band sessions in school.

In addition to the financing the junk band sessions, The Helen Foundation have also provided the school with an award which will be presented at the end of year assembly to a student who has shown particular enthusiasm for performing arts over the whole year.”
