Adam Bird, a young teacher, set out to run 52 half marathons in one year in support of THF – and he is on the verge of completing this remarkable feat of sheer guts, persistence and determination. He is still fund-raising and you can go onto his site here:
This is Adam’s story:
After running the 2016 London Marathon for ‘Ability Bow’, I have decided to challenge myself even further! I will run the distance of 52 half-marathons (1 per week, on my own, in my local area) over the course of 2018 for ‘The Helen Foundation”.
Those who know me will know I’m a huge Muse fan, and first heard of this charity through them. The band themselves often run competitions etc to raise money toward the charity, so I figured I’d try to help as well. Being a teacher myself, I love the fact that THF strive towards promoting the arts within schools, as it gives children a platform to express themselves creatively. I believe that every young person should be given the opportunity and encouragement to pursue these areas. THF also support a number of young people who have talents in the arts, but who simply cannot afford lessons, equipment etc.
I’ve never set myself a challenge like this before, and I wouldn’t say it’s been particularly fun! But I feel that when you’re putting your body under a fair amount of stress, it really does make you appreciate why you’re doing it in the first place. It is truly the toughest challenge I’ve ever set myself, so please contribute whatever you can to help me reach my target. It all adds up in the long run…..
Brilliant, Adam! We are so proud of you! Thank you so much for your support.
Those that can, please go on his fund-raising page and sponsor Adam. He deserves far more for his efforts than is showing so far…
