Hannah is thriving!

January 12, 2016

Hannah (not her real name) is a hugely talented string player and music student from a very challenging family background.  THF has supported Hannah for a number of years, providing funding for a new instrument, lessons and travel subsidy. Through sheer hard work and determination, and the amazing support of her mother and her teachers, Hannah gained a place at Oxbridge to study music.

Hannah’s mother recently wrote:
“I’m delighted to be able to tell you that Hannah is now happily settled at college.  She has never worked so hard – or been so happy! She loves the course content- just as well because it is incredibly intense.
She has already made good friends, and feels very supported by the music staff there, including a renowned instrumentalist whom Hannah has admired for many years. It was beyond her wildest dreams that she would have this person actually supervising her studies!
Hannah is also managing to continue her fortnightly private string lessons in London at the Royal Academy and her teacher there is really pleased with her progress. Hannah is funding her lessons by busking! She has also won a prize of over £400 from her college to help towards her lessons, which she is really pleased about.

I am so proud of Hannah. I find it amazing that even at this high level she is still managing to combine her academic studies with music practice and performance, and is thriving too!”

Helen Foundation Trustees are very proud of Hannah too and wish her every success in 2016 and beyond.
