THF Awards are presented in schools across Teignbridge, where staff annually choose the young person who has shown, in their view, “best endeavour in the Arts” in their school or college. We have space to highlight just two this month:
Katie Annetts-Smith – Cockwood School
Cockwood School wrote:
“Katie Annetts-Smith was awarded the Helen Foundation award for outstanding commitment to the arts throughout her time at the school. She attended cross stitch (after school club) and was also exceptionally good at art. In fact, one of her portraits was displayed an art exhibition in Cockwood as part of the Open Art Studios.
She plays the keyboard, taught in school, and she is an exceptional dancer.
The main reason we awarded Katie the award stemmed from her wonderful performance as Maria in the Staff and Year 6 performance of the Sound of Music.
Katie held the whole performance together and both her acting and singing ability was incredible. She shone – and this is a reflection of the wonderful year she has had.”
Sennen Pappin – Trinity School
Sennen writes: “I’d just like to say a huge thank you to the Foundation for presenting me The Helen Foundation Award, chosen by my teachers, at the 2014-15 Trinity School Speech Day. It means a lot to me as a person to be recognized for having taken part and further developing my skills in the Performing Arts section. It feels absolutely brilliant!”
