This is a remarkable story. All Saints (Marsh) School, Newton Abbot decided in the summer to hold a fund-raiser for The Helen Foundation – but with a difference. No simple mufti day for them!
Instead, supported by the Rotary Club, the children devised, organised and ran their own fund -raising mini-marathon in which every child in the school took part. On a hot afternoon and under the watchful eye of Rotarians and school staff, the children ran circuits of a nearby park appropriate to their age and capabilities.
Star of the day was Kyle, who just five years old, ran 7K without a break at a firm, steady pace with a fluid natural, running style that impressed all who witnessed the feat. Just brilliant, Kyle!
The whole event raised nearly £1000 for the Foundation, a fantastic achievement. Thank you so much, All Saints pupils, staff, governors, parents and friends and the Rotary Club for their wonderful support. What a memorable afternoon!
