Year 12 Newton Abbot College student, Lois Harris, was awarded The Helen Foundation ‘Best Endeavour in the Arts’ accolade during the College’s prestigious annual awards ceremony held last month. Lois’ unanimous nomination was a result of her unerring passion for the creative arts, especially through the medium of music and song writing.
The talented student fully immersed herself in the life of the arts at Newton Abbot College, performing in College productions, participating in numerous College bands and performing live at College functions. Her current projects include laying down tracks for her forthcoming album in the College’s recording studio, as well as continuing her A Level studies in Music, Performing Arts and Photography.
Lois was thrilled with the THF Award:
“I was honoured to even be nominated for such an award; to win it has been amazing. I am so grateful to the staff at Newton Abbot College for supporting my creativity throughout my student life and to be recognised in this way was an incredibly special moment.”
Head of Music and Performing Arts, Rob Wilkinson, is grateful for the continued support of The Helen Foundation. “To be able to recognise students each year for their talent and commitment to the arts is fantastic and we are so thankful to be working in partnership with the Helen Foundation in order to do this. Lois is a genuine artistic all-rounder and is known and loved both for her musicianship and performance talents as well as her passion for music and unique personality; we couldn’t be happier for her.”
Really well-deserved Lois!
