A new Waitrose store has just opened in Teignmouth.
If you shop at Waitrose, please nominate The Helen Foundation as a chosen local charity by completing the nomination form found in store.
Three good causes receive a share of £1,000 every month in every store from the Waitrose Community Matters initiative. The charities are selected by nominations from customer and Waitrose employees, so please be sure to nominate THF at the Teignmouth store.
At the check outs, customers are given a green token in which they can vote for which of that month’s three charities they want to receive the donation by placing the token in one of three Perspex boxes. At the end of the month, the cash is divided up in proportion to the number of tokens a charity has received.
The form requires some simple information about the charity and here are some ideas for what you can say in the main section, What does it do?
• supports local schools through special subsidies for them to engage professional artists to work with the children, on a project that the school has developed
• provides individual bursaries to young people seeking to further their talents in the arts but lacking the financial means
• makes available The Helen Foundation Award given annually by local schools nominating students for “most endeavour in the arts”
• funds special projects for young people in Teignbridge, often working with organisations of national standing like the National Trust, Bath Philharmonia and English Touring Opera.
All those working for the charity are volunteers and we are funded mainly by the generosity of people within Teignbridge.
Happy shopping! Thank you so much! We shall keep you posted!
