The Dawlish Coasters is a really lovely group of people who last year raised a very generous £1000 for THF.
THF Chairman Roger Kirk wrote the following letter of thanks that was reprinted in the Dawlish Gazette.
"As a former Principal of Dawlish College, I have always been aware of the warmth and generosity of the town’s residents. In particular, this was evident to our whole family, after losing our daughter Helen in a Christmas road accident in 2005, and in the setting up of The Helen Foundation.
Wearing my other hat as Chairman, I want to publicly thank the Dawlish Coasters for their hugely generous donation of £1000 to The Helen Foundation, presented at their annual Awards Evening last week.
Dawlish Coasters was founded in 1995 and has, over the years, raised many thousands of pounds for charity, especially local charities. Combining encouragement for runners of all levels of experience – and none – with friendly social gatherings, the Coasters play an important part in Dawlish’s community life.
The money raised will help The Helen Foundation achieve its mission of supporting the experiences and aspirations of young people in the arts across Teignbridge.
In 2018, the charity benefited over 1300 young people through workshops in school led by professional artists in music, drama, dance and art. It also offers individual bursaries and Helen Foundation Awards presented in schools - and supports large multi-arts ventures involving young people in the community, one of which is presently projected for the Dawlish Community in 2019"
