14 children enjoyed a very special THF supported arts experience recently at Dunsford School. Artist Bridget Arnold led a workshop where children worked one-to-one with adults to design and make special flags for the school's perimeter fence, and later on, inside the school.
The flags represent the school and the surrounding area of Dunsford, the Teign Valley and Dartmoor. The special ingredient of this workshop was the children were using electric sewing machines, most of them for the very first time. The children’s designs were reproduced in bright colours onto very durable fabric that is normally used for hot air balloons. The level of concentration and engagement with the project was truly impressive.
We wish to thank Bridget and all the adults who worked so sensitively with the children to make sure they gained maximum benefit from the workshop. The completed flags are very special.
