Honorary Patron news - Dame Floella Benjamin


Floella Benjamin became an honorary patron of The Helen Foundation in 2009 after we wrote to her inviting her to become a patron as she was by far and away Helen's favourite TV presenter. No weekday passed where Helen would not watch Play School. Floella was one of several inspirations behind Helen's wanting to become an actor herself.

Recently, Floella received the very high accolade or Dame Commander of the British Empire in recognition of her services to charity. Receiving this award is indeed an honour and we are delighted that Floella recently confirmed that she is very happy to continue as an honorary patron of the Helen Foundation. 2020 has also seen Floella listed in the Top 100 of the 2020 Powerlist of the most influential people in the UK from African/African-Caribbean descent.
