Sam_thfawardSam Hewitt of Newton Abbot College was recently presented with The Helen Foundation Award at the College’s Awards Evening for “best endeavour in the arts” in the college for 2012.

His citation reads:
Sam Hewitt played Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival last year. He achieved an A for Drama at GCSE levelĀ  and is an excellent role model for other students as he is hard working, committed and creative. He is an exceptional performer, combining instinct and intelligence and he is now developing directorial skills as he is often to be seen leading the learning in his A level Drama group and in the SSF production of Hamlet at the Phoenix Theatre, Exeter recently where he appeared in the title role.

Sam epitomises everything the Helen Foundation Award represents:- talent, modesty, imagination and an appetite for powerful performance with high expectations of himself at all times. Sam is reflective, a strong leader, an empathic collaborator and he thoroughly deserves the Award this year for his exceptional ability and exciting potential for the future.
