Shaldon Sings Out – and Sings for Helen!

April 11, 2012

Award-winning composer and musical director David Haines continued his exciting project among Devon schools of working with children to compose a song to celebrate either this year’s Olympics or the Diamond Jubilee. All the songs composed will be included in Teignmouth Community Choir’s Jubilee Concert in the Marquee on the Teignmouth Den on either 7th or 8th June and schools will be invited to take part.

Shaldon School, supported by The Helen Foundation, engaged David to work with their children and they all had a brilliant afternoon. The workshop, by complete coincidence, happened to fall on March 8th, Helen’s birthday, so the successful song-writing session ended appropriately with a celebration, with cakes and drinks, and the children all sang Happy Birthday to Helen as she had spent five happy years of her life at the school.
