Thanks from ‘Charlie’

April 4, 2013

Ears up!! Here’s a teenager’s Eastertime hug to all you supporters who give to THF so generously.

Highly talented, “Charlie” (not his real name) had a THF bursary to pay for Jazz piano lessons as his large family find extras an impossibility, & family tax credits unavoidable.

In a thank you card recently he writes: “I was ready to take my Grade 5 early, and took it on March 8th (Helen’s birthday – ed.). I’m delighted to tell you I passed with distinction. It was a wonderful result to complete my jazz grades with.” Totally brilliant, Charlie!

Particularly thrilling, as we remember a certain top rock singer/songwriter first showed how extraordinarily brilliant he was with a talent-show winning performance in Teignmouth of virtuoso improvised Jazz Piano ……. and that young man’s name was, of course, Matt Bellamy, at that time just 12 years old.

In the same thank you card to the Trustees of The Helen Foundation Charlie said:

“I will be continuing to play and will also be tutoring my two youngest siblings, so piano will continue to be a big part of my life. Once again, thank you for helping me to achieve my dream. Many thanks.”

Well done this young and talented pianist and we wish you well for the future.
Thank you to all THF supporters who help make such dreams come true.
