***THF Auction*** – Your chance to bid to own Matthew Bellamy’s Guitar

July 21, 2016

UK youth arts charity The Helen Foundation are delighted to be able to offer an unprecedented auction opportunity following the donation of an actual touring and recording guitar owned by Muse frontman, Matthew Bellamy.

thf_matt_guitar1The unique tour spec guitar, unavailable to the public in any format – only to Matthew Bellamy himself – has been extensively used for the current Drones World Tour since 2015 and is captured by fans on YouTube film footage at the sold-out London 02 event on Friday 15th April. For this show, the guitar was used during the song ‘Reapers’ before being spun high in the air then crashing onto the stage.

thf_matt_hans2The guitar will be presented for auction in its exact state, other than full band signatures on the guitar body, as donated by Bellamy direct from the stage including damage sustained during the performance! The guitar, still in playable condition, can be presented to the winning bidder ‘as is’ for a unique piece of rock and roll history or reinstated as a full playing instrument by the instrument creators Manson Guitar Works.

The Manson Matthew Bellamy MB-1 guitar is a rare and exclusive instrument but this is the first time one actually owned, toured and recorded by Bellamy has been signed and officially offered for sale. All proceeds will be donated to The Helen Foundation, a Devon-based charity whose Patrons include Muse.

The instrument will come with full provenance from The Helen Foundation and Manson Guitar Works. There are, to date, various YouTube videos of the final Friday 15th MUSE at the 02, showing Bellamy’s performance of Reapers and concluding with the throwing of the guitar.

Trustees of the Helen Foundation Roger and Annie Kirk said:

“We are overwhelmed by the donation of this unique guitar to the charity. MUSE have been staunch supporters of The Helen Foundation since its creation in 2006 and the coming auction will be one of the highlights of our special 10th Anniversary year.  Funds raised by the auction will help secure the future of the charity.”
