Buckfastleigh School used their THF subsidy to invite artist Lucy Jackson to work with two different classes on two different projects, one inspired by Rainforests and the other by the Ancient Greeks. Working with mixed media, including collage and cardboard sculpture, the children produced some really lovely work.
Trustee Leon Winston visited the workshop and writes: A room with children surrounded by bags and bags of colourful materials. It is a sure fire winner to capture their imagination and energy. Over two days the two classes of children created large scale art works based on the Ancient Greeks and animals and birds to be found in the rain forests.
Parents were invited to an assembly to see and hear, at first hand, what they had all been up to.‘ It’s great. I would love to do this all day’, said an eight year, old sorting out the colours for her cockatoo.
